Annual Fundraiser Dinner. THIS SATURDAY!!

Our Annual Turkey and Ham Dinner will be served on Saturday February 25th from 4:00-7:30 pm in the Friendship Room at the fire station. The dinner is open to the public and will be served family style. The meal will consist of Turkey, Ham, Potato Filling, Corn, String Beans, and Marie's Famous Pepper Cabbage. The price per person includes the meal of all you can eat served family style. A full service bar of beverages is available at an extra cost. Officer Investigation for False Alarm Activation February 20, 2012

Chief 15 was notified of an alarm activation reported to be false at the Boyertown Junior High West Center in the 200 block of South Madison Street in Colebrookdale Twp. Chief 15 arrived and conversed with the maintenance personnel that a workers were servicing the hood system in the cafeteria which setoff the alarm and that they had already reset. Chief 15 confirmed the report and was available and at station at 1024 hours.


Rescue 15 QRS Assist to Boyertown EMS February 19, 2012

Rescue 15 was dispatched along with Montgomery County Station 329 (Goodwill Pottstown EMS) to cover Boyertown EMS in the 100 block of North Walnut Street in the Borough for a BLS Medical incident. Rescue 15 responded with a full crew of eleven and arrived and began patient care until the arrival of Pottstown EMS. When the patient was loaded in the ambulance the company was released and available at station at 2208 hours.


Fire Alarm Activates at Boyertown EMS Station February 18, 2012

At 1859 hours Stations 15 and 16 and Station 17 (Liberty) with one engine were dispatched to the Boyertown EMS Station on East Second Street in the Borough for an automatic fire alarm. Assistant 15 went on radio and was advised by the communications center they received a call from both the premise and the alarm company and there was no problem. Assistant 15 held the assignment at station on standby. After arrival he determined the alarm was activated due to burnt food and there was a light smoke condition in the building. He then assumed command and had Engine 16 and Ladder 15 continue in normal speed for ventilation and recalled Station 17. The crews setup positive pressure ventilation and reset the alarm system. The company was placed available and at station at 1931 hours.


Ladder 15 Assist to Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue February 18, 2012

Ladder 15 was dispatched on the initial structure assignment to assist Montgomery County Station 67 (Gilberstville Fire and Rescue) at 0845 hours at a reported building fire in the 1300 block of East Philadelphia Ave. The caller reported an odor of something burning in the kitchen. Ladder 15 arrived and crews assisted in searching the apartment building and found no odor or no cause for an odor. Command released the units after a thorough investigation and the company was available at station at 0927 hours.


Medical Assist to Boyertown EMS February 17, 2012

At 0110 hours Boyertown EMS requested assistance with lifting in the 700 block of South Reading Ave in Colebrookdale Twp. Utility 15 arrived and personnel arrived to assist with lifting and removing the patient from the residence and onto the litter. When the patient was loaded in the rear of the ambulance the company was released and available at station at 0123 hours.


Fire Police Assist at Disabled Tractor Trailer February 16, 2012

At 1503 hours the Fire Police were requested to assist the police department with traffic control for a disabled tractor trailer blocking traffic at the intersection of North Reading Avenue and Township Line Road in Colebrookdale Twp. Traffic 15 responded and assisted with diverting traffic around the scene until a towing service arrived and removed the truck. The police department released the Fire Police when the roadway was cleared and the company was available at station at 1613 hours.


Fire Alarm Becomes a Working Fire in the Borough February 12, 2012

At 0259 hours the high life hazard card was sent to the 100 block of East Philadelphia Ave in the Borough for an alarm activation at a three story apartment building. Assistant 15 went on the air and was given additional of smoke in the building on the third floor and the assignment was upgraded to a working fire. Assistant 15 arrived and assumed command and confirmed a heavy smoke condition. Engine 16 arrived first in and their crew went to the fire floor. Engine 15 arrived and stopped by the hydrant and sent it's crew to assist interior. Engine 15 laid a supply line to the scene. Assistant 15-1 pulled a feeder line and the crews stretched the high rise pack from Engine 15. Deputy 16 reported a working fire in a third floor apartment. Chief 15 assumed Division 3 command and Chief 16 assumed manpower. Interior crews knocked down the fire and began checking for extension. As additional crews arrived the building was thoroughly evacuated. Division 3 reported the fire under control and performing overhaul. Crews began setting up ventilation on the fire floor and checked the entire building with the gas meters. Division 3 reported to command that the fire was out and that they had opened up to assure no farther extension. Ladder 15 and Ladder 65 setup their mains to the roof in the event there was extension into the cockloft. After all interior crews assured no farther extension and after all the floors were checked with the gas meters the residents were allowed to return to the building. Command returned the assisting companies as the interior crews assisted the Fire Marshall with the investigation. After the investigation was complete command recalled the assignment and the company was available at station at 0513 hours.


Malfunctioning Light on a Commercial Building February 11, 2012

At 2354 hours Engine 15 and Engine 16 were dispatched to the mini-mart at the intersection of Reading Avenue and South Sunrise Avenue in Douglass Twp for a possible transformer fire. Assistant 15 arrived in the area and advised nothing evident. Engine 15 arrived and began checking the area around the store. Engine 16 was directed to approach via South Sunrise and check that area and for a power loss. After investigating it was determined that there was a malfunctioning light on the rear of building which was going on and off and looked like an electrical arcing problem. Assistant 15 recalled the assignment and the company was available at station at 0039 hours.
